How to tell if your Early Bronco has a Dana 30 or Dana 44 Front End

It's Easy

One of the most common questions we are asked is how to tell if your Bronco has a Dana 30 or a Dana 44 Front End.  Once you know what to look for, it is very simple to decipher between the two.  The quickest way to tell is to look at the top of the steering knuckles where the Front End Housing is connected to the Knuckle.

Dana 44 Models

On a Dana 44 Model, you will see a large castle nut threaded onto a ball joint.

Dana 30 Models

For Dana 30 Models, you will see a king pin cap with four bolts threaded down into the top of the knuckle.
